A relaxed little escape in a big city, up in the hills of Santa Teresa and surrounded by nature. The atmosphere is lovely and peaceful, with a view over the city. The hosts are kind and caring, and breakfast every morning is amazing. I’d definitely come back on another trip here!

This was one of the best stays during my month-long trip in Brasil. The rooms were spacious, the location was amazing, and the views were incredible. The owners’ hospitality and the breakfast were just as impressive. Five stars, I’d do it again.

Guillermo's and Maiza's guesthouse is well designed, with convenient rooms and hosts ready to help with anything you need. Breakfast is generous, with baguettes, bread, cheese, ham, fruit, and a good choice of juice and tea. If you’re lucky, you might share a beer with them on the patio or in the garden. The location works especially well for carnival: the Sambadrome is a 30 min walk away, the Carmelitos bloco is around the corner, and the centro area is a 15 min walk. It’s less than 100 meters from the Selaron stairs and just 20 mins from Ipanema, making it a great base in Rio. Excellent value for money, and I’d stay again in a heartbeat.

The owner is very kind, and the house has a stunning view of the bay. There’s a beautiful terrace where you can sit and enjoy a drink in peace.
