The view and the property are gorgeous, and every piece of furniture and decor feels carefully chosen down to the last detail. What made the stay stick with me most, though, was the warm, kind staff. Daniel, Renata, Sara and the rest of the team know Rio inside out and speak openly about their city. A lovely fit if you care about design, unhurried mornings and a good breakfast.

Chez George is such a quiet, beautiful little find in Rio de Janeiro. The interior design is a dream, with thoughtful details everywhere you look. The two staff members were incredibly kind and made us feel welcome the whole time. We had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone after somewhere peaceful and distinctive in Rio.

The morning light showed off the beauty and calm of this unique little haven, and the breakfast was great too. By then, the disruption had faded from mind. The night before, though, a very loud wedding party next door made it hard to enjoy the peace of our room and the lovely pool. At 465 euros a night, I expected better. Our suite was closest to the party, and I wish we hadn't been given that room, or at least been warned when the booking was confirmed and offered a discount. Better if there hadn't been a party at all. Even so, it's a great place with an amazing view, and a must stay.

I spent a whole week in Rio trying to book a room here. It looked fully booked, but the receptionist said she could find a place for me on Monday, either for lunch or for a night, and promised to follow up. I never heard back. When I checked in again, she said a room had been booked just hours earlier and mentioned a waiting list for the first time. It felt extremely unprofessional, and left me wondering whether guests are chosen based on their profile. I work in PR and have never been treated this way before. Then, when I called, a woman I didn't know answered curtly, “Yes Ines,” without even saying hello or introducing herself. Where are we? This is meant to be a renowned establishment.

Mohamed made our stay especially memorable. His warmth and kindness made us feel at ease, and he knew so much about both the house and Rio. Hearing his explanations and insights added a whole extra layer to the visit, and we couldn't have asked for a better host. I hope every guest gets the chance to meet him. The house itself is amazing too, with striking architecture and furniture chosen with real care. We had a delightful stay.
