The room was comfortable, and the apartment caretaker was kind and helpful. We felt at home with the way she treated us. Still, two things fell short of what I expected: there wasn’t a proper double bed, just two single beds pushed together, which was quite uncomfortable, and the air conditioner only blew air instead of cooling.

The worst part was being repeatedly charged for a service that simply wasn’t there. No staff were around in the afternoon or evening, and there was no room service. This is really an apartment with four rooms, where guests are left to manage on their own, not a hotel. The owner tried to charge R$792 to my card even though the reservation price was R$660, saying the difference was for service and fees. For that extra 20%, all I got was one roll of toilet paper. There’s a kitchen, but no pots at all, so you can’t use the stove, and breakfast might as well be a dream. I’d like to know what Ms. Paloma thinks that extra charge covered. There’s a notice saying smoking in the room carries a R$500 fine. My experience here was as bad as it could get, with one frustration after another.
