The owners paid little attention and didn't share basic information, like letting us know there were guests with a dog in the apartment. I found out when it barked at me in the morning as I was going to the bathroom. The place was poorly maintained and cleaned, and the price wasn't worth it. We asked if we could leave our bags after checkout and got ignored. A hotel across the street had private rooms for less than they were charging here. They really let us down.
We were charged more than the price agreed when booking, and the room didn't have the private bathroom we'd been promised. In the morning we had to wait for the doorman to arrive so we could leave the key. We found more comfortable, better equipped hotels in Copacabana for less. To me, this place is overrated just because it's near the beach. I didn't like it at all.
I stayed in February 2019 and knew the room would be basic, but it smelled strongly of urine. The air conditioning barely worked and smelled musty, the bed and pillows were filthy, and the bathroom was awful. I went straight out to find another hotel. I contacted the owner, who is a foreigner, and got very poor service. I then contacted Boonking.com, where I'd booked, and they refunded me.
The bus stop is only a few meters from the entrance, and shops are close to the apartment. It's also in a very good location, just a few blocks from Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Excellent service.
The accommodations were in poor condition and not very clean. For what they charge, the price isn't worth it given the state of the place, even with its location.
