Hostel Flamengo

I chose this place for the location and low price, but in March 2018 I was badly bitten by bed bugs. It was horrifying, and they didn’t seem to be trying to solve the problem at all. Most rooms have very old furniture, the staff don’t speak English, though they try to be friendly, and the breakfast wasn’t the best. The bedding, mattresses, and pillows were clean and nice, but that didn’t fix the bed bug problem.

The place was dirty and noisy, and breakfast was poor. The staff didn’t speak any English. When I decided to leave and asked for a refund for the unused night, they said they had no cash and their card terminal wouldn’t take my foreign card. The manager said she’d come sort it out, but never showed up and offered no solution. They could have paid me in cash and handled it themselves. I left without my money, while the staff showed no understanding and seemed almost to laugh at me. I felt robbed. Don’t go there.

The location is nice, but the inside needs work. It could use more light and a fresh coat of paint.
