Lagune Barra Hotel

We had one of the worst nights of sleep we've ever had in a hotel. The room was unbearably hot because the air conditioner was completely broken, and traffic noise poured in through the open window we had to sleep beside. Reception wouldn't answer later that night. Earlier, we arrived at 15:00 after more than 24 hours of travel and two connecting flights, exhausted, only to be told our room wasn't ready. We had planned to go to the carnival later, so we tried an early dinner at the hotel. That was frustrating too. The staff seemed incompetent, food took about 40 minutes, and drinks took 30 minutes, even after I went to ask if they could bring those quickly. We were very thirsty in the heat. We called reception at least five times about the air conditioning, trying to explain the problem, but got no help and weren't offered another room. They eventually sent a maintenance worker who didn't speak English, took a picture of the ventilation, and left without fixing anything. Communication was nearly impossible throughout because none of the staff could speak even basic English. The stay was very disappointing and far below our expectations.

The pool water was dirty, and the pool bath was especially filthy. There was no warm water, so my child couldn't bathe because it was so cold. The toilet stone was also very bad and had a hole. Without a car, the hotel is too far from the city center, so don't book it. Service was very poor: the front desk, reception, and room service didn't answer the phone. Breakfast had poor quality and little variety, and there were insects in the food.

The breakfast was top notch, and the beds were very comfortable. The air conditioning worked properly too. Having a pool and bar area on the 14th floor was a nice extra. Amazing hotel with excellent service, definitely worth the stay.

The rooms were clean, but only felt like a 3 star room, and I didn't like the hotel. The location is far from everything, so you definitely need a car to get anywhere. The room was very warm, and telling reception about it multiple times didn't help. Everything in the room costs extra, and they don't even provide complimentary water. Breakfast was included, but it was very weird to us and had very few choices, unlike what we're used to in Europe or the USA.
