Lapa Ville Hotel

A nice little hotel with good wifi. The rooms are small.

Really good.

The location was good, and both the night and morning receptionists were very polite. But the room and bathroom were dirty, and the room itself made me feel awful. I was in room 101, which was tiny, had a low ceiling, and a window facing a wall. I could barely fit in the bathroom. The cost was nowhere near worth it. About 50 reais would have been fair for such a bad experience. Breakfast was just sliced bread, coffee, and milk.

The price is good if you book ahead, and breakfast is included with a decent variety. Inside, the hotel has been renovated and feels a bit like a hostel, although every room is private. The room layout in the building is unusual, with rooms at reception level, above it, and below it. We stayed in double room 201. It was clean and decent, but a little cramped, with one side of the bed against the wall. Its window faced the corridor, which meant less privacy. The hotel is very well located if you have things to do or want to see the Lapa and Gloria area. The bathroom was nicely renovated but very tight: you have to go in and close the door to reach the sink behind it. The glass shower enclosure could use a padded door protector to stop the glass hitting glass. Shampoo, conditioner, and soap were provided, and there was a minibar but no drinks. I expect the room layouts vary. There's a flight of stairs from the street to reception, and I didn't see any adaptations for guests with disabilities.
