I travel a lot, and without a doubt this is the worst hostel I’ve stayed in. I still can’t believe how much I paid to sleep in a filthy eight-bed room. I stayed five days and there was no cleaning of the room at all, and no breakfast. That would have been bad enough, but the place was under renovation. For two or three days in a row we couldn’t sleep properly because of constant hammering and loud talking in the hallway. Worse, the owner Eduardo and employee Samir felt entitled to enter the room without knocking at any hour, day or night, to joke around, measure something in the room, or open the window and shout to the guy in another room, with no respect for people who were asleep. An employee even asked a guest to buy cigarettes for him. If you don’t like the jokes or forced familiarity nobody asked for, or complain about this ridiculous stay, they make you out to be difficult. I don’t think I’m better than anyone, and I don’t mind paying more for somewhere average or staying somewhere basic, as long as I’m treated with RESPECT. Stop trying to be clever and lying in your replies to Hostelworld reviews. There’s no internet in the rooms, the renovation wasn’t finished for high season, and the hostel is not in Leblon, it’s in Vidigal. Be alert and stay away from this dump. A few good points: employee Theo was polite and helpful, the air conditioning worked, and there was a view from the window.

The view was the only good part. I stayed seven days, and the girls’ bathroom was never cleaned. I had to take out its trash several times. I don’t mind taking out my own rubbish, but the poor hygiene went beyond that. The bathroom was never washed, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t reach the rooms. The hostel is filthy.

This hostel is wonderful, just steps from the sea. You wake up to the sound of the waves.

Great location, and the double room was comfortable and quiet.
