The staff were friendly and sorted out the problems I reported quickly. The location is handy for the price, with the beach about a five-minute walk away and plenty of shops nearby. The rooms feel a bit shabby and get pretty hot. The bathrooms aren't very welcoming, with visible mould on the walls, and the standing water sometimes brings mosquitoes into the shared room. There's no kitchen, just a kettle and microwave, so affordable meal options are limited. Some guests played TikTok videos loudly at night, took calls in the dorm at 2am, and switched on the lights while others were asleep without turning them off. That's on the guests, of course, but a dorm etiquette sign might help everyone feel more comfortable.

The common area was nice, and there was always toilet paper in the toilets while I was there. But the stay just felt like a bed and little else, and the staff weren't much help. Carnaval had just ended, which I understand is a tough period, but if full prices are still being charged, people can't be expected to accept substandard service happily. A few things made the room setup difficult. The rooms were cramped with nowhere for luggage, and three of the twelve lockers were broken, so I had to share one with a friend. The bed assignment system relied on stickers, and people were woken in the middle of the night for sleeping in beds they'd actually been directed to use. Some beds also had power outlets that didn't work. There was rubbish around because there weren't any bins. The air conditioning and fans struggled to cool the room, and water leaked from the air conditioner onto two beds for over 48 hours before anyone fixed it. Bathroom soap was often missing. The room keycard system was annoying and triggered alarms, which made things less peaceful. It broke on my third night, leaving the door unlocked from then on. Whatever safety it was meant to provide was compromised, but at least the alarms stopped. Update after the response: I don't need luxury, just the minimum a hostel should provide. You may think my judgment is unfair, but I've stayed in many more hostels than you and have a decent sense of the basic expectations. By “PowerPoint,” I meant a power outlet. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for pointing me toward the Hilton. I'll look for a suitable hostel nearby.

The location is great, right by Copacabana beach, with shops and cafes nearby. The staff are very good, though some of them don't know English. The price is well worth it compared with other places. The rooms and toilets get 4 out of 10 from me. Most of the people staying there seemed to be locals, and I didn't find any foreign guests.

I couldn't stay after arriving, so I booked somewhere else straight away, and they didn't refund my money. The rooms are extremely small and the beds are really bad. The shower and toilet were unbelievable: no toilet paper, not even an old bit of soap, just dirty, old curtains. Be warned, there was nothing there at all. I didn't take a picture of the toilets, unfortunately. You probably wouldn't want to stay unless you're a guy with no standards 😂

The location and the staff were the only good parts for me. The beds were so uncomfortable that a metal bar pressed into my chest all night. I know it's a hostel, and I've stayed in plenty, but this was the worst one I've experienced. Thanks to the staff for helping me, and for the location. Those were the two positives.
