The place had a great vibe and was always clean. Staff, breakfast, and Maria's cakes were wonderful, and there's a good bar and pool. The location felt quiet but central. It's near a favella, yet during Carnival we never had any problems or heard of any. Highly recommend it!

We found the dorms clean, roomy, quiet, and airy, with air conditioning and several power outlets at each bunk. The owners were friendly, and breakfast was great. The hostel wasn't busy during our stay, perhaps because many people prefer Ipanema and the surrounding area. Don't let that deter you, though. It's a good spot, close to Rio's more central attractions.

Once you're inside, it's very nice and the service is good. The hostel's street is pleasant, but I found the surrounding area potentially dangerous. I took a wrong turn into the nearby favela and was told at gunpoint to leave. Even taxi drivers who don't know the area well can take you in the “wrong way,” which can feel unsettling. It's a shame, since the hostel operators have done nothing wrong apart from setting up near a questionable area.

Maria, the owner, was kind and helpful, and the staff were friendly. The place was clean, with good breakfast, and the pool was a nice extra. It was spacious and quiet, just what I needed between blocos during Rio Carnival. I'd definitely want to stay here again next Carnival.

Amazing staff and breakfasts, plus a great lobby with a snooker table and Netflix access. There's also a swimming pool. The best place we've stayed in all of South America. Simply great!
