Windsor Guanabara Hotel

The bed was really comfortable, the room was clean, and the furniture, though a little old, was functional. The staff were helpful. Reception and a few people in the restaurant spoke English.

The price felt very high for what the hotel offers, and they charge an exorbitant amount for every bottle of water instead of providing even a small one. The rooms also leave a lot to be desired, with visible wear, wall stains, a broken desk chair, and stained bedding. The area is decent during the week, though maybe only mediocre, but it feels very dangerous on weekends. I'd look for a quieter area like Ipanema. I'll be back in Rio, but I definitely won't stay here again.

The hotel is very close to the Sambadrome, where I had booked a ticket, which I loved. Staff were friendly, especially the restaurant team. Shout out to Douglas, thank you! Unfortunately, it's in Centro, an area with many homeless people and people struggling with substance addiction. Oh well.

The room looked good from the outside, but this isn't a four-star hotel and I'd avoid it. We only needed the room for a few hours before heading to the airport, otherwise I would have asked to switch. We booked a triple superior room, but got one with only a king bed for three people. It didn't feel like a superior room at all. The fridge looked like it was from the 70s, with water bottles inside charged as minibar items. What a travesty.
