Beach access is the real draw here. The location is perfect for relaxing, and mornings along the coast feel energetic, with lots of people exercising. They provide beach towels, so it's easy to go for a quick swim in the ocean. The rooftop view is amazing, and there's a rooftop pool. The gym is small, so jogging on the beach might be a better option. The room was dated, but functional and decent, and I liked the shower's strong water pressure. There was no complimentary water or coffee. Check-in took about 30 minutes, while checkout was under three. Breakfast had a decent selection, including nice fresh fruit, though there weren't many vegetables. The omelet is a must-try.

The neighbourhood felt very safe, and the beachfront location couldn't be better. The rooftop pool is beautiful, and all the marble in the common areas was squeaky clean. We stayed seven nights. The hotel was good overall but not great, and it could use upgrades and better maintenance. For a five-star hotel, a kettle, coffee machine, and smart TV seem pretty standard nowadays. The swipe card locker system should be replaced with tap cards, since I had to change my key cards at least five times during the stay. The thick blanket looked like it had been there since the 90s. There was graffiti on some of my room's furniture, the shower head wasn't working properly, and the wood around the bathroom door frame was rotten. The corridor carpet needs help too.

The hotel was well kept, the room was clean, and that shower was great. We liked the spot in Barra, right across from the beach, and would stay again. The rooftop pool is nice, though smaller than it looks in the photos. Our main issue was the thin walls: we could hear people talking through the connecting doors, and one night we had to complain about loud music after midnight. Also, there was nowhere to get just a coffee before 8am, even though the buffet was open, and there was no à la carte option.

Breakfast was a real plus, with fresh fruit, pastries, hot dishes and local choices, all good quality in a pleasant dining area. The hotel is right on the beach in Barra da Tijuca, with ocean views and easy seaside walks. The neighborhood felt safe and spacious, and there are jogging and cycling paths, surf spots and beach bars nearby. BarraShopping, VillageMall, restaurants and cafés are a short drive away, as is a 24-hour bar across the street on the beach. It works for business or leisure, but the hotel feels more okay than luxurious, and there are better options in the area for the same price and star rating. Still, it’s a good base for a relaxed, less crowded Rio visit.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the pool and gym are okay. But the Wi-Fi simply never works. If you need internet to work or even get online during a layover, don’t stay here.
