There’s no AC, so expect to sweat. Still, the place is clean, the staff are great and the owners work there. It’s one of the cheaper places to stay in Salvador, very close to the center where you can explore the city’s history and visit lots of tourist spots. During Carnival, there are dancing blocks at Pelourinho, the former slave quarters, within walking distance.

Breakfast is the usual Brazilian spread of fruit, rolls, ham, cheese, and coffee. Our room was okay, with a ceiling fan, though sadly no AC in the triple room. Towels aren’t supplied, and there’s just a tiny courtyard for hand-washing and hanging laundry. We stayed here during Carnival, and Pelourinho is an easy walk away. Uber can take a while to arrive, but we always got there in the end. The owners live at the hostel too. I wouldn’t drink the water they provide, it tastes like tap water.

The rooms have ceiling fans, and breakfast is included. It’s very clean and close to the city center, in the Santo Antonio neighborhood, another historic area near Pelourinho. There’s police security nearby.

I paid the full amount in advance when I made the reservation, but when I got there they said they were already full. Don’t trust them.
