The upstairs bar is run by a separate company, and the drinks are far too expensive for a hostel. The place has SOOOO MUCH potential, though. It used to be a Che Lagarto before the new owners took over, and there are so many things they could improve to make it one of the best hostels around. The location is incredible: right across from Barra beach, near a big shopping mall with everything you need, and down the road from the famous Barra Lighthouse, one of the area’s best sunset spots.

I had a wonderful time here. The room was clean, the price very reasonable, and the beach just a few steps away. Great location and amazing sunsets. The staff were very friendly and spoke English.

The price for what you get is very good, especially for a budget trip. The location is good too, and the staff are nice. We’ve been twice, and we’ll definitely go again next time in Rio.

The beach is only a few steps away, and the friendly staff made us feel welcome. Breakfast was enough to keep us going through the morning.
