The pools were great, especially for families with young kids, and the kids club had nice activities from age 4, in Portuguese. Breakfast offered lots of variety and good quality, and the lunch buffet was good too. The rooms were spacious, with modern bathrooms and fairly comfortable beds, though the pillows were too soft for us. The bathrooms and beds were clean. But we had safety problems in our room and felt let down by the staff. The curtains wouldn’t close, and a lamp had exposed wires because its plug was broken. The curtains were annoying with young kids who wake early and can’t nap, while the wiring was a clear danger. Someone came quickly to fix the lamp, but left a huge mess of tiny rocks without asking for cleanup. We cleaned up ourselves, but the first cleaner only mopped, without sweeping or vacuuming, so the debris just moved around. We called someone else later, and they collected a scary amount of dust and rocks. The room wasn’t clean, and management never apologized. At the end of our stay, we found exposed wires on the hairdryer too, even though we hadn’t used it. This was worse than the lamp because it was in the bathroom, within reach of a young child, and some wires were taped over, probably covering a connection. This could kill a child, and our room was designed for families. We asked for an urgent repair, which they provided promptly. They also promised to compensate us for the trouble, but never did. The pool opened late, and drinking water wasn’t available around the clock. The fountain could only be accessed during gym hours. Even after the curtains were fixed, they didn’t reach the floor, so plenty of light still came through. The only solution offered was to cover the gap with sheets or pillows.

The bungalow section around the pool is gorgeous, and I’d definitely choose a sea-view room. Breakfast had lots to pick from and was really tasty. I remember staying here as a child, when Deville had another name; after the renovations, it feels modern and very good. We had a wonderful stay.

The gym is easily the best I’ve seen in a hotel. It’s a full, regular gym on the lower floor, and guests can use it at no extra cost. The restaurant was excellent too, and the breakfast buffet had plenty of variety and good quality. Staff were consistently friendly and attentive. The resort is near the airport, handy if you’re traveling onward along the coast, and close to the beach, though not right on it.
