Hostel Do Rasta

I spent a week at this hostel. The owner recently took it over, and they’re doing good work to turn it into an amazing new place. There’s still plenty to do before it’s ready, but my stay was comfortable. You can use the kitchen, there are lots of markets nearby, and it’s very close to the beach. The best part is the staff, though. They’re like a family, welcoming everyone with open hearts and making you feel as if you’ve always been there. I’ll miss you, Jay 🌞

The setting is comfortable, and the location is excellent, close to markets, bakeries, tourist attractions, and beaches. A wonderful place, I recommend it.

The location and atmosphere were good, but the place was really unhygienic. There was trash on the bedroom floors, the beds were dirty, and the smell of urine was strong. I decided not to spend even one night there. Staying in a hostel doesn’t mean expecting luxury, but basic cleanliness and comfort matter. I’ve backpacked for a long time and stayed in very simple places with limited facilities, but I’ve never seen neglect like this. The place has potential, but it needs more care, cleaning, and organization.

I stayed at the hostel from August 5 to 8, 2025, and Rasta welcomed me with incredible warmth. It was my first hostel stay, and I arrived completely unprepared and on my own. I didn’t have a padlock for the locker, and all the ones from the hostel were already rented, but nothing went missing or was stolen, and I felt at ease. Thanks, Rasta, for helping make my first visit to Salvador so pleasant and stress-free. I’ll be back with my whole family next time. The rooms are simple, but for the price they exceeded my expectations, and the shared bathroom was always clean. I didn’t use the kitchen, but it’s fully equipped. There’s a 220w outlet if you need one. The location is wonderful, close to most of the attractions I wanted to visit, two pharmacies, MC Donald's, a gas station, and a big market. Uber and Pop were available all the time, even when I left early and came back late. Entry and exit are controlled with an electronic key and security camera. People were always ready to answer questions and offer suggestions. Ask me if you want to know more, I highly recommend it.
