The owner was combative and rude as soon as I arrived. He brought up my not replying to emails, so maybe that was why, or maybe he was having a bad morning, or that’s just how he is. I’ve stayed in hundreds of hostels around the world and never had one send so much email before a stay. It’s cash only, and the owner charges to hold your things if you arrive early enough. The air conditioning isn’t allowed on in the rooms until night, and they switch it off early. I was waiting to check in when another guest told me to leave if I hadn’t paid yet, so I did. The owner also called me a liar, lol. Looking at Google and Hostelworld, he seems to argue with anyone who leaves a less than perfect review. He seems to hate his job. Stay clear, cheers!

The owner seemed nice, there were free drinks, and the location was okay. But the setup was rough: the top beds had no ladders, there were no curtains, and the fans were so strong they disturbed my sleep. Cards didn’t work, so I had to go out of my way to get extra cash for the nights.

I left my passport in the room locker by accident and only noticed at the airport. Within minutes of messaging the hostel, they sent it to me by moto taxi. Thanks so much to Magda for sorting that out so quickly. I stayed during pre-carnival and loved the friendly staff and great atmosphere. Top hostel, 10/10, I’d stay again.

It was a really inconvenient stay. They only turn on the air conditioning at 10 pm, with the temperature set to 77 degrees (25 Celsius). The shower curtains were moldy and smelled awful, and they only take cash.

The hostel was clean, the breakfast was great, and both the price and location were excellent. The owner was friendly and kept on top of things.
