The stretch of Praia de Itapua is awful, like a huge favela, and seems unfit for people to visit. It's basically an open sewer, and the beach sand smells strongly of urine everywhere. The kitchenette where I'm staying has no pans or microwave, and the landlord didn't give me a receipt, so how can I prove that I paid? I was charged R$50,00 per period. Until recently there was no water for a shower, the sink, or the toilet flush. Don't come to Itapua, and share this with more people.

The place was dirty, and the shower was broken. The reservation stated there was air conditioning, but there wasn't. I don't recommend it.

I really like staying at Odaya. It’s a pleasant place, very clean, and Sonia, the owner, is so attentive.

A lovely spot for experiencing Salvador the way a true Bahian would.
