Quality Hotel & Suites Sao Salvador

The pool water was dirty, and water wouldn’t drain from the bathroom sink. The internet was very weak, too. On the positive side, it’s a good hotel in a convenient part of Salvador, the staff were helpful, and breakfast was good.

If you can get it for a very good price and aren’t looking for luxury, it’s an okay place. The pool is nice for swimming laps, and the basic rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast was acceptable, though the coffee was awful. Check-in was a real fiasco and took 25 minutes. We both had American passports, but “the system” would only allow one non-Brazilian in a room. What?!

The good parts were a quiet area, a decent outdoor pool, and a breakfast with plenty of variety. The hotel was clean, though it praises itself for that while serving breakfast in styrofoam bowls. The rooms were very basic, and the gym had lots of broken equipment. Wi-Fi was mostly unavailable in the room and by the pool. There’s no restaurant, shop, supermarket, or other facilities around the hotel. Staff were unfriendly: reception wasn’t helpful, housekeeping was pushy, and some breakfast staff looked very unhappy.

The price is fair, and the room was very nice. The restaurant was good, and the breakfast buffet keeps getting better each week. The gym is the weak point. The equipment that’s available is difficult to use and could be replaced with something better, though there are also treadmills and weights.
