Rede Andrade Express

I tried to change my arrival date more than 10 days ahead, but they never replied. I called several times to explain I couldn’t arrive at the scheduled time because I’d be a day late, and they didn’t help. When I got there a day late, they’d cancelled my reservation as a “no show.” They said I hadn’t told them and they couldn’t reopen it, so I’d have to pay for a new booking and lose my money. I went somewhere else and am reporting them to the police and starting legal proceedings. They never answered our questions or concerns. It was a horrible experience, arriving overnight somewhere unfamiliar, having to walk around and find another place to stay, and losing money.

For the price, the value is exceptional. The location felt safe, 5 metres from the beach, about as close as a hotel can get, and just a few minutes' walk from supermarkets, restaurants, and other amenities. As is always the case with Rede Andrade hotels, breakfast was varied and generous. This branch is much nicer than two others I stayed at in Salvador, with a comfortable lobby and an outdoor seating courtyard. My room was described as “an apartment,” but it was a normal room. I was fine with that given the low price. It had a sea view and the essentials: a fridge, TV, hot shower, AC, towels, and soap. The WiFi was terrible, with no signal in the room at all. Apart from that, everything was great, including the staff. I’d recommend it 100%.

The room itself was pretty nice, and the view was good. The cleaning ladies were about the only staff who did a good job. Breakfast was frustrating: half the food was gone, and I kept waiting for someone to help. The pool and Jacuzzi were dirty and neglected, and the same breakfast every day got old. The internet was some of the worst I’ve dealt with, and the bathroom fan was noisy. We also waited an hour and a half for the rooms to open. As foreigners, we watched three others go up before us, and nobody explained the Covid guidelines or called our name. We finally had to shout to get attention. That was really disappointing. I stayed because it was cheap, but they need better internet and more variety in the food. Paraiso da Carne de Sol nearby is the best. Avoid room 314.

The rooftop deck has a nice look over the ocean and city, and the hotel sits right across from the beach in Amaralina. It’s a good budget option. Breakfast is included and quite tasty, with pastries, cakes, eggs, coffee, and fresh juices.
