Hotel Umberto

If you need gluten-free or lactose-free choices, this hotel has them at breakfast. A great option for people with dietary restrictions.

The woman serving breakfast was lovely and attentive, always helping people. The rest of the breakfast was disappointing, though: fresh bread was rarely ready early, and the cakes and other breads seemed to be from previous days. The rooms also need some repairs, with burnt-out bulbs and a broken toilet seat. I had trouble with the pricing, too. They first quoted me a high rate for the week, then showed me a monthly rate after I had already agreed to the weekly stay. I asked if the amount I’d paid for the week could count toward the month, but they refused. It felt like they judged customers by their appearance. There were other rates they didn’t mention at check-in. I explained I was there because of an illness, not asking them to help me, and hoped they would count the paid week toward the month. Look around, since there are nearby places with lower prices and good accommodations.

The rooms and bathrooms were very clean, and breakfast had a good range of food. I was just passing through Santa Maria-RS and found the hotel well located, with good facilities, fair prices, and helpful staff. I recommend it.

I’d never stayed at Hotel Humberto before, though they’ve been welcoming guests in the city for years. The rooms were comfortable and well organized, and the location puts you close to everything in the central area. The service was impeccable, and breakfast was magnificent. Highly recommend!
