We arrived in Santarem at night, two women hoping to get some sleep, and then, when we confirmed we were on our way, they told us we’d been moved to another hotel downtown, apparently under the same owner. It was more expensive than our original booking, badly cleaned, full of insects, and the room had no windows. They claimed there was no electricity, but the other hotel told us they were simply fully booked. When we questioned what we’d been told, they stopped answering and left us without help. We tried calling Ivo and the number that had told us to relocate, but couldn’t reach anyone. In a Brazilian city at night, with Uber not working, that felt really dangerous for two foreign women. We have no words for this behavior and strongly recommend avoiding this place. It’s a fake place that sends guests to bad alternatives when overbooked.
