We left and stayed somewhere else after the owner refused to refund our room deposit. The booking had come through a friend of hers, so we expected good service, but that wasn’t our experience. During our WhatsApp conversation, she asked for R$ 100,00 to hold the room, which I sent by Pix to her account. We arrived at the time she gave us, 12h. She met us, showed us the room, then left the inn. Soon after, she messaged asking for the balance. I offered to pay by credit card, but she said she only accepted Pix. There was no information at the inn about accepted payment methods, and I felt the payment details had not been made clear. When I asked for the deposit back, she said she wouldn’t return it. The service from Dona was awful and led to this rating. She doesn’t know how to deal with customers.

The location worked really well for me: four blocks from the central square, but away from the bars and places where shows and dances happen. The owner and her daughters were attentive, made me feel at home, and handled all my requests. My room was spacious, with room for a suitcase and everyday items. It isn’t luxurious or fancy, but I was much happier there than some people who joined the same tours. I saw complaints about cleaning, but guests are asked to say when they want the room cleaned. When I return to Alter, I’d stay there again without hesitation. One tip: choose an upstairs room if you can, since they’re newer and more secluded.

The breakfast was very limited, just a small piece of cake and one cheese bread per person, even though only two rooms were occupied. I asked for toilet paper, and the owner brought some, but while we were out she came into the room and took it away. There’s no hair dryer; she lent me a terrible one and then asked for it back. It felt completely disrespectful. I don’t think this place is a good fit for Booking.

Quiet and comfortable, and only three blocks from the main square. Seu Luiz and dona dety were very polite and helpful. Their grandson Pedro Neto also replies on WhatsApp.
