Pousada Villa dos Quilombolas

A laid-back kind of place...

I gave this rating with a heavy heart because I loved the inn and the service. The orange room, named by color rather than number, was the only one available when we booked. The photos didn't make its layout clear. It looked like a small but standard suite, and the price seemed totally fair. But it sits among the other rooms and has no windows at all, neither in the bedroom nor the bathroom. The entrance door is the only way air gets in or out. If you want to relax in pajamas with any daylight, you'd have to leave the door curtain open. Since the room is right by the entrance, guests walking past on their way out to town or to the restaurant would see you resting there in your pajamas. I found that a bit claustrophobic. The room has a double-height ceiling. Maybe an upper window could let in daylight while keeping some privacy, though I'm not sure. It's the only solution I could think of. The inn is beautiful and VERY well cared for. The owners are there, and you can see the care and attention that go into everything. The breakfast restaurant is adorable, I fell in love with it, and we really enjoyed the delicious breakfast. I'd absolutely come back, but I'd make sure not to book that same room.

Dani gave us such a warm welcome. Our room is cozy and spacious, and the bathroom was clean and tidy, though we did miss having a handheld bidet spray. Breakfast was a treat all on its own, with so many delicious things. We loved our stay!

The owners are exceptional in the way they treat people, and breakfast was as good as it gets, clearly planned to please the guests. I'm grateful we got to discover this special inn. It's left a place in our hearts.
