The rooms are awful. There’s no light on the street, and the place is next to a bus station. The rooms are dark because the windows don’t open, and they smell musty. Water leaks in several places, including under the sink, where it runs onto the floor and floods the bathroom. The towels are barely fit to use as floor rags, and there’s nowhere to dry them when wet. They come with a tiny bar of soap. You’re given a key and left on your own, with no reception or anyone to complain to. The TV is terrible, and the tacky decor, including room “URSO,” is a real eyesore. The TOCA name itself should be a warning. Carol wouldn’t let us inspect the room before paying, saying we’d make the floor dirty by walking on it. I paid cash and thought a 3% discount for avoiding the card fee was fair, but she was rude. Even half the price would be too much. This place is more like a hostel, and one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in as an experienced traveler. São Bento de Sapucaí deserves better tourist facilities and hotel staff who know how to treat visitors. In response to Ms. Carol, I stand by what I said. Let anyone who wants to stay in this dump dressed up as a hotel do so. There were two leaks, and that’s what caused the flooding. We used the towels, including one we put on the TV, to dry things, obviously. When I saw the room, I realized I’d walked into a trap, but it was too late. She said the apartment was in poor condition because the property had been inherited. We had three stays there, and the whole thing was a disaster from start to finish. Anyone can go and see for themselves.

My husband and I loved the place. Everything was organized, and Carol, the owner’s daughter, was a lovely, friendly, attentive young woman. The room was clean, the bed linens and towels were spotless, and so were the bathrooms and kitchen. I was charmed by the little touches inside and out. We slept really well all night because it was so peaceful. It was worth it, and we’ll definitely be back. Congratulations, and hugs from Dri and James.

I stayed here for a week and it was wonderful. Carol’s service was great, and the place was clean, organized, and neatly arranged. I’d stay here again without hesitation.

The location is great, and the guesthouse is clean, lovely, and peaceful. I slept really well, and it’s a great place to rest. I loved the welcome and will come back. Ten out of ten.
