Bravo City Hotel Sao Carlos

Great.

The staff were great, and that’s why I’m giving it two stars. The room and facilities, though, left a lot to be desired. I stayed one night in room 304. The TV remote didn’t work, there was no hand towel, and the toilet flush was damaged and leaking. I also wasn’t sure the place had been cleaned properly. There was mold in the room and breakfast hall, and the bathroom door was chipped wood. In the morning, I had to take a cold shower because the hot water wasn’t working. Breakfast was basic, and I missed things like cheese bread and yogurt. Last time I was in S. Carlos, I stayed at Laparos near the bus station. It cost more, but after this experience I can see that it was worth it.

The room was dusty, including the floor and wardrobe, and the bathroom walls were covered in mold. The shower wouldn’t heat up. I told three different staff members, who each advised leaving the taps running for a long time, but that still didn’t really solve it. The TV remote was broken too, and the minibar was old and noisy. I can’t recommend this hotel.

I called ahead and was quoted R$188.00 for a night. At check-in they charged me R$284.00, even though the place was a dump. Then I saw on Booking that the rate there was lower than what I’d paid at the desk, despite Booking adding a fee. Ridiculous.
