Hotel Fragata

The staff were friendly, the Brazilian breakfast was good, and the hotel faces the ocean, though not the beach. There were problems all over the place that pointed to management lacking professional knowledge and interest. Mold was visible where the bathroom tiles meet and on the breakfast room ceiling. The fridge was very old and noisy; the windows didn’t close properly, so storms and people outside made a lot of noise. TV channels came in fuzzy, showers were weak, and the towels and sheets were old and stained. The lights were dusty and dirty, and some furniture was chipped. I was told the internet would work for remote work when I booked, but it was too weak and unstable, not even enough for Zoom. Staff couldn’t say where the Wi-Fi was installed and said there were no repeaters closer to the rooms. I was advised to take my laptop to an upstairs common area because it was “closer to the street” and might work better. Rooms facing any street were noisy, with buses passing. The sea view wasn’t blocked, but parking spaces were in front of the building. They said there used to be a sandy beach out front, but now it’s a five-minute walk to sand. Booking was awkward too, since it was only through WhatsApp. Their reservation “system” was a foam board with pins, which led to confusion about availability on the last day and back-and-forth with different staff on WhatsApp. Pics follow.
