Santiago Palace Hotel

For the price, it wasn’t worth it. The hotel has no sound insulation, and we could hear the neighboring guests snoring. Our room had no curtains, and the towels were dingy. There was no hair dryer, which feels like a basic item to have in cold weather. At breakfast, the coffee seemed more like tea, and there were no eggs.

There’s no elevator, and the noise carries from the hallways and other rooms. The breakfast has few choices, but it’s adequate for the quality of the stay. The hotel is far from the centre, and the price is high for what you get. The place is very basic. The curtains are almost see-through, there’s no wardrobe or air conditioning, and the minibar sits on the floor. The bathroom door is frosted glass and shorter than the doorway.

Housekeeping and room service were very good, and breakfast had plenty of options. The rooms could use cable TV.

We really liked the place. It was clean, the bed and pillows were super comfortable, and the receptionists were friendly and welcoming. One of the staff even helped us change a tire after our car got a flat, which was so thoughtful. Breakfast was simple but very good. The only downsides were the slightly unstable Wi-Fi and the mosquitoes, but nothing a good Baygon can’t handle. We’ll definitely be back.
