The pillows made it hard to get a decent night's sleep. They were extremely thin and hard, with plastic covers, and I woke up with a headache after the first night. I asked reception for another one and they responded right away, but the replacement was just the same. I spent all four nights sleeping badly and dealing with constant pain. The staff were very polite and welcoming, and my room was spacious, perhaps more room than some guests need. Breakfast was basic and didn't have much variety, but covered the essentials. I stayed for four nights last week. To me, a good night's sleep is the least a hotel should provide. That means a comfortable bed, clean, soft bedding, and especially decent pillows. I suggest offering pillows in different firmness levels and with more comfortable materials. Guests' comfort should come first.
Right in the center of São João Nepomuceno, the location was excellent. The accommodations were clean, and breakfast was very good, with fruit, yogurt, juice, breads, cold cuts, cakes, and more.
The staff were very helpful throughout the stay, including sorting out the third towel we needed on the first day for our TPL room. The hotel is large for a city this size, and the rooms are spacious. Our room wasn't cleaned between the first and second day even though I put the sign on the door. I mentioned it at reception, and it was taken care of the next day. Breakfast was okay, though they bring out the pão de queijo a little at a time, so you have to let them know when it runs out if you want more. There's no room service, but the hotel building has a shopping area with two snack bars that deliver to rooms at night if you don't want to go out to eat.
The hotel has very good infrastructure, is well equipped, and serves a good breakfast. My main issue was with management and communication among the staff, which led to several problems during my three-night stay. We had agreed on a daily rate of R$ 180,00 for a couple, and I had the WhatsApp messages confirming it. At check-in, they tried to raise it to R$ 200,00. Reception staff put pressure on me, saying the event organizers who invited me would have to cover the cost if I didn't pay the disputed difference. I paid half the agreed amount at check-in, but that payment wasn't entered in the system. Close to checkout, I was unexpectedly charged again because the same employee who checked me in had missed the mistake. My room also wasn't cleaned during the stay, despite leaving the sign requesting service as reception had instructed and being away for a few hours. I spoke with the hotel manager to offer feedback about these issues and help improve service and management for future guests. That didn't go well. He focused on explaining that the hotel was under new management and needed improvements. We had come to rest and enjoy our stay, not deal with stress like this. After talking with other guests who had stayed for the same event, I found the different charges from the agreed prices had affected several people. Some reluctantly paid the difference, while others, like me, stood up for their rights. I'd suggest getting all dates and prices for your stay confirmed by email or WhatsApp, and writing down the name of the person who helps you and the time, to avoid the embarrassment and stress I went through.
