Hotel Resort Rio Poty

The hotel seems to have been a higher-end place in its prime, but now it needs major renovation. A few staff members were kind and helpful: the night receptionist, the person who brought up the bags, and the breakfast counter attendant. But one staff member in the breakfast area seemed to have no manners, and that sort of thing can ruin a guest's stay. I've traveled around the country and stayed in many places, and I rarely complain, but this experience was bad enough. If you have another option, I don't recommend staying here.

We arrived an hour after our scheduled check-in for the rooms we had reserved, and all of us found the rooms hadn't been cleaned. There were used condoms on the bedside table and cigarettes on the floor. We had to wait three hours for the rooms to be cleaned, with no apology and no offer of other clean rooms. At checkout, the pool waiter either badly miscalculated our bill or was trying to steal from us, and the hotel manager wouldn't resolve it. Horrible service and accommodations. Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else. Thank you, Rio Poty, for reminding us that some businesses need to go out of business.

At 2 a.m. on our second night, someone with access to room keys opened our door. I yelled and jumped up, and the person shut it. The front desk had no explanation the next morning. That was the last straw after several other problems. The key system didn't work, so a porter had to escort us to our room every time. The rooms looked and smelled old, and there was a mushroom growing out of the bathroom tiles. We planned to stay three nights, but if you need anything beyond a bed to sleep in, this isn't the place.

The bathroom doors are coming apart, and the bathroom clearly hasn't been cleaned properly in a long time. There's mold in the tile grout, and the air conditioning smells moldy too.
