Pousada Chica Pitanga

Really good.

We booked six nights, but left early because we felt the guests were being treated with complete disregard. The property has a nice look and good rooms, yet there was no reception and it seemed abandoned, almost as if it was being shut down. There was only one employee per shift. Because of the tide schedule, some tours left around 8 a.m., so we asked if breakfast could be served at 7:15. At first they agreed and said they'd tell the kitchen staff. But when we returned that night, the employee on duty said breakfast wouldn't be available at that time. We ended up going without breakfast for two days, and nobody made an effort to help. We tried contacting management by phone and WhatsApp but got no reply. In the end, we left the pousada.

Once I complained, they moved us the next day to chalet 05, which was in perfect condition. It even had a few extras, including a bedside lamp, hammock, and bigger TV, and the room smelled nicer and the sink was clean. That let me sleep well and enjoy the good things about the pousada. Before that, though, right after check-in I already had concerns about chalet number 04. The shower was great, the pillows and sheets were clean and fresh-smelling, breakfast was very good, and the place is charming. The employees were polite and kind. But I only noticed that night that the split air conditioner was leaking water inside and had soaked my daughter's bed. I could only complain the next day because the manager wasn't there. The sink was also full of hair, so the water couldn't drain. These were simple things to fix before putting a guest in the chalet. It gave me the impression they already knew about the problems but put me there anyway. I also wondered if booking through booking.com meant I got a less desirable room. They did sort things out the next day.

The location is great, very peaceful, and close to supermarkets and pharmacies. A short walk also takes you to some restaurants away from the touristy area, while Rua da Xepa is really nearby, so we walked there every day. All the staff were very helpful. Breakfast is made to order based on what you choose the day before, then brought to your room's veranda at the agreed time. I definitely recommend this place in São Miguel do Gostoso.
