Pousada Haya

Great!

We had an amazing few days at Haya, and the staff were professional, polite, attentive, and always ready to help. The food was really good, especially the breakfast, which was wonderful. We stayed in room 7 with a pool, an upgrade we were given. I’d definitely recommend it, and we’ll be back.

The beach and pool areas couldn’t accommodate the hotel’s own guests, even though it has more than 20 bungalows. People reserved seats for hours without showing up, and there weren’t enough chairs or umbrellas for everyone. We waited two days for a spot, and nobody seemed to try to sort out seating for the guests. There’s also no massage area, so massages have to take place in the rooms. I’ve never seen that at any inn I’ve stayed at around Milagres. Service was poor throughout our stay, whether at the restaurant, beach, or reception. Staff forgot things, and everything took far too long. On our first day, we asked reception to arrange a ride to the town center. The receptionist sent us to the parking lot because the ride had arrived, but once we were nearly at the center, we got a call and learned we were in the wrong car. The right driver was charging us because we hadn’t been there. The receptionist had booked the car and directed us to the wrong one, so the confusion was entirely her responsibility. At breakfast, a small dog was sleeping by our table and wasn’t bothering us. A waiter started spraying it with water and followed it all around the restaurant, even splashing guests. It was very uncomfortable to watch, like he was having some private showdown with the dog. I won’t return.

We’d been searching the beach for our rental car key for over three hours when Localiza called to say it had been found and we could pick it up from Cinara. Another guest had found the key on the beach and handed it to the inn, and Cinara quickly contacted Localiza to let them know. We felt such relief, and it reminded us that good people are still out there. Thank you so much, Cinara, for thinking of others and helping without hesitation. That simple act saved our trip. And thank you to pousada Haya for having staff who make a real difference in people’s lives.
