We had such a great time here! The beach right out front is lovely and feels almost private, and the hotel is in a good spot with nice decor. The staff were all so friendly, and the food was great too. They arranged tours for us with really nice people as well. Highly recommend!

The food was amazing and the location couldn’t be better. The place was good otherwise, though it could use some improvements. Cleanliness was the letdown: I found a water cap in a drawer, splatters in the washroom and on its floor, a bandage near the outdoor tub, and the shower stall smelled a bit off. I’m not quite sure why.

Breakfast arrived in our room each morning on a lovely tray with flowers. We chose what we wanted the day before, and it was a nice way to wake up. The staff were available, attentive, and helpful with everything, even ordering a pizza for us late one night. They didn’t speak much English, which is normal in Brazil, but Google Translate worked fine for us. We came from the USA to dos Milagres for a friend’s wedding and both loved our stay. The villas are spacious and clean, with a fun mix of modern and artistic jungle-bohemian decor, a bit like the artful hotels in Tulum. The grounds are beautifully cared for, with plants, flowers, trees, and coconut-lined paths. There are little surprises as you walk around: painted doors, saunas and baths, hammocks, birdhouses, hanging mirrors, teepee pyramids, and a wooden nature path down to the beach. There you’ll find more hammocks, places to relax, and a small beach bar with a friendly guy working. Free beach cruiser bikes are included too, and we used them for day trips. We’d recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this beautiful, safe part of Brazil.

Sadly, Taboo Milagres was a disappointing stay. The photos and listings on Trivago and Booking make it seem like the inn is right on the sand or that rooms have sea views, but neither is the case. It is near the sea, with access by bicycle. The beach bar’s service was very poor. On our arrival, an employee spoke badly about the hotel. Prices were about twice what we saw at other local restaurants, without quality to match. For example, the Sanduba Taboo shrimp sandwich cost 70,00 and was two slices of Pumma-style sandwich bread with dried shrimp inside. The bread wasn’t toasted, and it came with no butter or sauce. We also ordered linguine with steak to be served at the beach bar on arrival day. It tasted good, but arrived cold and uncovered after being carried at least 300-500m from the inn, exposed to sand or leaves getting into it. Drinks and beer were very expensive. The hotel could make better use of what it has. It could charge what other places do, offer better snacks, and sometimes keep the beachfront bar open later with a lual or live music so guests could spend the evening there. The walk to the beach has no signs, and there are no nearby trash bins along the shore. They should add signs and bins. The room itself had a good structure, but the housekeeping was poor. On our second day we had to ask for cleaning because the room was full of sand after the first day’s cleaning. The curtain could be fully blackout, and the pillows, sheets, and blankets could be better quality for the price. Breakfast was cold every day, whether served in the bungalow or bistro at our booked time, even though it was personalized. Water costs extra. The options were tapioca, a toasted ham and cheese sandwich, cheese bread, coalho cheese, scrambled or fried eggs, the fruit and juice of the day, honey, granola, jam, and cake. We expected a premium experience for the price and based on the photos, and were unpleasantly surprised. We won’t stay here on future trips to Milagres.
