Hotel Calstar

The staff were pleasant, helpful, and efficient, and the room was comfortable and adequate. We appreciated the complimentary breakfast when we checked in early on arrival, and breakfast had everything we needed. We did feel uneasy about the surrounding area and didn't feel comfortable going out from the hotel. The TV had nothing for English-speaking guests, the shower wasn't hot enough to wash long hair, and the bathroom felt a bit cramped. Still, it was a positive experience overall.

Breakfast was great, and the lobby and room were very nice. Service was good overall. The location is close to many good places, though it seemed quite dangerous at night. A serious issue was that they wouldn't give me drinking water unless I paid for it, except during breakfast.

The room's tiny window looked onto a small enclosed space and let in no light. The beds are hard, though sleep was still OK. With three nightstands attached to the beds in a row, the plugs are awkward to reach, so we had to charge devices in the bathroom or unplug the fridge. Not practical. Breakfast was average: watery juices and an unripe pineapple.

The rooms were clean, breakfast was okay, and the price was low. But breakfast ends at 9:30, and on Sunday we waited about 30 minutes because the dining room is too small. Noise carries between rooms, and the cleaning staff woke us while working in other rooms. Some rooms have no window or ventilation.
