From the outside it looks like something straight out of a dystopia, but inside it's a huge, massive building. We stayed for a month, and it felt like the building had everything we needed, with shops, restaurants, and even a cocktail bar upstairs. There was a cockroach problem, though. We saw them far too often on our floor and tried blocking the gap under the door with plastic bags to keep them out. It didn't work.

You get great views across the whole city. It's close to the newly revitalized park and just minutes from Jardim paulista.

This is an iconic city building, built in the early 1960s in the modernist style. It should be preserved as a monument and stay part of São Paulo. But it's somewhat dilapidated and deserves renovation to improve its condition and make it more modern and energy-efficient. From the street, the AC units on every floor are a real eyesore and make the building look cluttered. It's also a problem that not every unit has air conditioning in weather that's hot and humid all year round.

The stay was pleasant overall, and the location is great. The apartment we booked through Agoda had no air conditioning, and the toilet hygiene was questionable. We booked two apartments, and one had an awful toilet brush. It's also worth knowing that this isn't a modern condo.

The vibe on the 31st floor was amazing. At night, though, it felt dangerous. There are two blocks of music shops right next door. I got cornered by a scary guy in the lobby. It's a good story now, but I wish I'd known the elevators and stairs better when I made my big escape.
