We recently got married and had a group of more than 30 people staying here. The pool and bar being open 24 hours was a plus, and Gabriel in the restaurant deserves a special shoutout for keeping us supplied with food and drinks nonstop. The staff made us all feel welcome from the start and went above and beyond to meet our needs. Our rooms were clean, with fresh sheets and towels every day, and the location was great. I don't know why the place gets bad reviews; maybe others had a different experience, but my group and I were more than happy. You get what you pay for, and we'll definitely return.

At the Wyndham São Paulo Paulista, the manager was rude and unhelpful when we tried to store our luggage. The overnight staff had told us this was possible, and the front desk had already acknowledged the request, but she refused, saying she wouldn't help because we were Airbnb guests. When we asked for her manager, she said he didn't speak English and couldn't help either. That felt dismissive and unprofessional, especially since the confusion had come from staff. I wouldn't recommend the hotel after this experience.

We stayed three days, and on checkout day staff refused to hold our six bags until our flight a few hours later. We'd asked in advance and been told it was no problem. They said the staff had made a mistake, but the manager wouldn't fix it or call a higher manager. She said she didn't want to help and wouldn't. The request was just to leave our luggage in the storage room. The bathroom was dirty, the towel bar was hanging off the wall, and the staff were rude.

The lifts didn't work properly, and the room cards often lost their magnetism. After waiting 10 minutes for a lift to the 18th floor, I sometimes found the card wouldn't work, then had to wait another 10 minutes to go back down and queue at reception to have it remagnetised. The rooms were also a problem. Our first was falling apart and had a terrible chemical smell. We arrived late and spent the first night there, after which I got a chest infection from breathing the chemical air all night. Once we showed photos, staff quickly moved us to a larger room. To be fair, they seem used to complaints and readily offer another room. The upgraded room didn't smell, but the bathroom was just as bad. If you're from the UK or Ireland and expect the same comfort and room conditions as a Travelodge or Premier Inn, for the love of God, don't stay here. The beds are made with a bare duvet between the bottom sheet and another sheet. The linens were clean, but with so many rooms there's no way they wash the duvets between guests. Climbing into bed tired and finding an uncovered duvet next to your skin was horrifying. I can't fault the staff, who were polite and trying their best in very difficult circumstances.
