We were so glad to find a vegetarian menu after weeks of coming across very few vegetarian choices in Brasil. The food was both tasty and nourishing.

I regret choosing this place based on the reviews, and wouldn’t recommend it. I paid 200 reais for a very basic stay: the single room had no bathroom, no lock, an old fan, and no TV. The bathroom was shared and there was no soap for washing hands. At night, people talked and laughed loudly by my window in the early hours, so it was noisy. For 200 reais, or a little more, you can get a better quality hotel with more comfort and peace.

Washington was especially helpful, answering my transport questions, explaining how to get to the places I needed, and sharing tips for restaurants and shops. Everyone at Hostel paulista was kind and welcoming, and I felt well received. It’s organized and feels safe, the breakfast is a nice extra, and the Wi-Fi was good. I loved staying there and will be back. Thank you :)
