Hotel Chaves

Great.

The location has its downsides. There's an area nearby with people using drugs, which can be a bit scary, though nobody bothered me. On the other hand, markets, snack bars, bars, and public transport are close by, including the metro, train, and buses. The attendant was very friendly and helpful. My room was small, but clean and comfortable, and the shared bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was good and everything was fresh, though it's best to get up early because some things run out if you leave it too late. The hotel is simple, but it met my expectations. I paid R$50.00 a night and thought it was well worth the price. I'd recommend it as a budget option, especially if the nightly rate is between R$50.00 and R$130.00.

The room felt like something you'd find out in the countryside, which is fine, but in central SP I expected more for R$130 since it wasn't that cheap. The bathroom had no door, the mattress was really bad, and the fan didn't work. An employee brought me another fan, which saved the situation. Breakfast was just bread with butter. When I went down, there was only one bread roll left, plus crackers, milk, coffee, and powdered juice. Terrible.

Elenir and Roberto were great, and the service was excellent. They really tried their best to take care of my requests. Elenir does a wonderful job cleaning the room, and I'm always pleasantly surprised when I open the door and see it tidy. Robert at reception was very friendly and spoke Portuguese, Spanish, and English, which isn't common. With many foreign guests, it means people can get help without a language barrier. A special thanks to Roberto too. Another guest made a mess in the bathroom this weekend, and Roberto cleaned and sanitized it so we could use it again. The hotel is very pleasant and in a great location, close to Luz metro station, making it easy to get around. Free breakfast is available Monday through Saturday, and there's always water in the fridge. I compared several hotels before choosing this one 👍🏻.
