The worst part of my stay was finding a flying cockroach near the vent while I was walking around the room. I’ve never found an insect in a hotel room before, especially one in an expensive hotel, and it really scared me. After that, the other problems added up. The bathtub coating was peeling, and when I filled it, bits of paint floated in the water. The balcony was dusty and very dirty, and I felt it was unsafe without any protection, especially for children. My bed had only a sheet, with no duvet or other bedding, which felt lazy. The cleaning was mediocre too. They changed the towels, but the rest of the work looked careless, so I didn’t leave much of a tip. There were plenty of good things in the room and hotel. It was spacious, the shower had strong pressure and hot water, and the view was lovely. I liked the decor and comfortable beds, and the location was fantastic. Breakfast was tasty, and the receptionists were friendly. The service charges were outrageous. I asked for a spoon, fork, and knife and was charged 21 reais. They also wanted 21 reais for a cup of ice. There’s no ice dispenser on the guest floors, and even when I offered to go to the lobby to get it myself, they said every request came with a 21 reais service fee, even borrowing ice or boiling water. So boiling water, a glass for wine, or some ice would each cost 21 reais. I understand paying for room service, but this hidden fee for getting anything from the hotel was really frustrating. The room service food was overpriced too, 124 reais for a mediocre risotto and 80 reais for spaghetti. The bedroom TV was awful. It’s 2026, and even cheap motels have better TVs with Wi-Fi and smart features. Taken together, I don’t think this deserves four stars, three at best. We paid a lot for just 4 nights and unfortunately won’t return. That flying cockroach really ruined the stay for me, something I’d never expect in a 4 star hotel.
