A really nice hostel tucked away in a lovely neighborhood.

Trying a hostel together was a fun first for us. My husband had stayed in hostels before we were dating, but I hadn’t, so we decided to give it a go on this trip. We really enjoyed it. The place is clean throughout the day, well located with things nearby, and has good facilities. Everyone was attentive, helpful, and polite. And that wonderful little black coffee really warmed the heart, thanks, Elielton. We’ll definitely be back.

The staff are the real highlight here. They’re welcoming and quick to help, and the location is great: two blocks from Fradique metro in a safe neighborhood full of restaurants and shops. The internet worked well, there’s a shared kitchen, and breakfast is included, though it’s only served from 7 to 8, so get up early before it runs out. The facilities could use a serious update. Shared rooms are cramped, the mattresses are old and misshapen, and the bedding is worn. The bathroom is small and could use more thorough, frequent cleaning. As someone who’s stayed in lots of hostels, I’d also say the common area is very limited: just a small TV room with too few seats to spend an afternoon working or socializing with friends. It works fine for a few nights, but it isn’t a party hostel.

The woman at reception was incredibly rude when we came by at night to ask if there were any beds available. I understand the rooms may have been full, but she could have just told us politely. Instead, she was already practically sending us away and even told us to “keep our voices down,” though we weren’t shouting. I was polite to her, and there was no reason to speak to us that way. The people making reservations are the ones paying her salary, after all. I was sent here because it’s near the metro, but I’ll never set foot in this place again. I come to São Paulo for work all the time, and I’d rather sleep at Tietê than stay here. If you need a hostel, find another one with reasonable prices and better service. I’d sleep on the street before coming back to this dump.
