Villa Hostel

We walked in off the street without a booking, and the staff made my 80-year-old mother, my wife, and me feel right at home. There’s a lot of care put into this hostel, and it feels like more than fair value for what’s offered. The staff helped with information and taxis, and the woman who prepares breakfast was especially kind. Well done, and blessings to you all. Keep up the good work.

The shared areas were kept clean, the place was quiet, and having a metro station nearby was a big help. But the cleaning in my standard single room really needs work. The sheets, pillowcases, and quilt had visible stains and looked like they hadn’t been washed in a while. The curtain was dirty and broken too. The bathroom was clean, but parts of the shower were rusty, and there was no hand soap. The room’s cleanliness needs a lot of improvement for a comfortable stay.

The bedbugs are a serious problem, and nothing was done about them. On my second night, I pulled back the blanket and was bitten by one. I caught it and squished it. I wanted to leave, but was too tired, so I asked for another bed the next night and had no further trouble. I did take off the top bedding, since it’s used by multiple guests without being washed. Another guest took the bed I’d left and was scratching all night. I usually give a bedbug experience 1/5, but I’ll put this at 2.5/5, which rounds to 3/5. The rest of the hostel was fantastic. The staff were truly amazing, the area is very good, and the metro and supermarkets are just minutes away. WiFi was excellent, breakfast was included, and laundry cost 30R. There were plenty of seats, a terrace, Netflix, and drinks and snacks for sale. Ordinarily I’d rate it 5/5, maybe even 11/10.

The place is clean, but I couldn’t sleep properly because of the security motorcycle noise every night from 22:00 to 6 am.
