Pousada São Pedro

Rafaela was especially helpful throughout, a ten out of ten for her. The other staff were attentive as well, but she really stood out. One nice moment was when a couple had two dogs that barked a lot. An employee offered to stay with them at reception so the couple could go enjoy Carnival without disturbing anyone. The hotel is 300m from the center of Sao Pedro da Aldeia, right by the road. A tip: rooms 10, 12 and 14 face the pool, so road noise isn't a problem there. Nearby, there’s a pharmacy next door, a 24-hour drinks shop, the restaurant Queijão, Mcdonalds and other good options if you don't want to head into town. The building is recent, and the room has a very good minibar that chills drinks and keeps food well. The room is small but manageable, though three people would be impossible. The bathroom is modern with a glass shower screen. The electric shower worked, but the water flow was low, still enough to get by. The spring mattress is worn; a padded protector would make it more comfortable and help it last longer. The wall-mounted air conditioner couldn't keep up with summer heat, and it only felt cool at night. You have to climb onto the bed to turn it on or off. The TV did the job, with open and cable channels, and we could watch the samba school parade just fine. I saw the cleaning woman washing the floor with water and pleasantly scented cleaning products, which looked hygienic. I asked every day for fresh towels and bedding and they did it. Ask for a fitted sheet so it won't come loose from the mattress. The linens and towels aren't top quality, but they're serviceable. They didn't replace the soap, though I always bring spares. The free breakfast buffet requires a time slot since all 15 rooms can't fit at once. The food was good quality and the staff were helpful. I asked for a fried egg and got one, even though scrambled eggs were already available. The Wi-Fi worked most of the time but slowed down at peak hours. Parking is spacious and secure, but I think it only fits about half the guests' cars. Security cameras in the garage would be a good addition. The small pool is good for cooling off after the beach, but needs investment soon. With busy holiday periods, daily cleaning matters; I heard it was only cleaned twice a week. Some guests complained about dirt in the water, though I didn't see any, perhaps because it had already been cleaned. The pool shower was nearly clogged, as was the drain. The furniture needs replacing: chairs are torn, a lounger is broken, and the rest are all crooked. Have a few beers and you might end up on the floor. That's a shame because the pool area is welcoming for a snack or quiet conversation, and has a distant view of the beach. The outside bin there needs emptying several times a day; flies gathered when the lid was left open.

The breakfast was good, with a nice variety, and Patrícia was friendly, attentive and very helpful. The receptionists were courteous too. I didn't like the road noise from my room, so I switched rooms, but cleanliness was disappointing. There was no hand towel or bathroom mat, the toilet clogged, and the blanket smelled musty. This is meant as constructive feedback: the housekeeping staff, breakfast utensils and room linens, including the sheets and towels, all need attention. I love the City and spend my holidays here. It’s a lovely place to relax, with pousadas and hotels for a stay. The scent of barbecue carries a long way, and the wine, I can't even tell you, it could make any couple fall in love. If you love and respect your wife, you can make everything in this Wonderful City feel magical. I don't take many photos. I leave that to God, the owner of all this beauty. The pictures I do take are saved on my Pen-drive, kept in my stories, my books and my heart. They never fade; they stay recorded and copied, and the scenes play in my memory on every holiday, wherever I go. Merry Christmas to everyone, and there's a wonderful New Year here too. Awful, just awful. First and last time I'm coming here. The toilet was broken, the bed was terrible, and there was a poop smell in the room. The TV didn't work, and the noisy air conditioner didn't work either. Parking and the reception service were horrible. The bedding was itchy, the floor was dirty, the walls were all stained, and the balcony door had no key. Just awful.
