Pousada Canto das Corujas

The towels were a little damp, which was the only downside. Everything else was excellent, especially the wonderful breakfast. The team was really attentive, and I’ll definitely be back.

I came back for a second stay because I had such a lovely experience. It’s welcoming and great for a rest, with a wonderful breakfast and nice rooms.

The breakfast was very good, and the sauna was excellent, but there’s a lot that needs attention. The pool water was cloudy and its waterfall was switched off; the gym equipment and some benches were broken, and the outdoor areas weren’t being maintained. In the bathroom, the towels were damp, the shampoo and conditioner dated from 2019, and an item in the fridge was expired. The place is beautiful and could be a grand inn. Even the area shown in the photo would be a nice spot if it weren’t dirty.

I booked through Booking, but after rain the dirt road was so muddy that locals said not to try it without a 4x4. I canceled less than an hour later. The inn charged my card for two nights even though it was only a one night stay, and wouldn’t refund me. Booking said the inn had to reimburse me, while the inn blamed Booking. They returned only the amount charged in error. Don’t book unless you’re sure you can get there. Booking itself showed a zero cancellation fee when I canceled, and said I could cancel free within 7 days, but they still wouldn’t return my money.
