Pousada Casarão da Praia

It’s very quiet at night, though the town gets going early. That’s not the accommodation’s fault. The inn is on the edge of town rather than along the main road, and the beach is still less than a five-minute walk away. The rooms were clean, and the beds weren’t saggy, though a little more storage would be useful. Check when booking, because some rooms have air conditioning and some don’t. The reception staff were friendly and quick to help with small questions, even though communication was a bit difficult. Breakfast had coffee, juice, rolls, cheese, ham, jam, honey, muesli, milk, fruit, and cake. They also made us fresh scrambled or fried eggs every day. I enjoyed spending a few days here by the beach. My family and I stayed this weekend and really liked the inn. The room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and airy. Breakfast was generous, and the beach is very close. They also lend out chairs and umbrellas to take along. The center is nearby, though you do need a car to get there. This isn’t my favorite beach in São Sebastião, but I’d definitely come back.

Pousada Casarão is a cozy, peaceful place in a quiet village. Shops, restaurants, a shopping center, and a market are close by, and the beach is an easy walk. You can leave the car in the garage and get around on foot. The people are polite, and the inn’s welcome was very good. The breakfast kitchen is only for preparing breakfast, and the basics would have been enough for me: freshly ground coffee and hot milk. There was plenty more, though, including savory snacks, sweet and savory breads, cake, sweets, juice, yogurt, fruit, and cereal. The pool hours are long, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy it. There’s lots of nature around, with birdsong and fresh air. Our suite looked out over the pool. It deserves another visit.

The inn is small and cozy, and the location is good, but I was disappointed and wouldn’t stay there again. We had no internet for three of our five days, which meant no TV either because it runs on Wi-Fi. When I asked the employee about it, she only said the wind the night before had caused the issue. But then what? Nobody called a technician or did anything. Breakfast was quite basic on the first day, then more generous on the following days. I ended up wondering if that was because there were more guests. I paid too, so why wasn’t breakfast more generous on day one? It left me feeling that the effort depended on how many people were staying. The place fell short in a few ways.
