After traveling to Maresias with my wife and our 7 month old, this was a relaxing place to unwind. We enjoyed a beer by the pool, the rooms had AC, and breakfast was great. The staff were super friendly, and the beach is close. Ask them about places to go, they know all the good spots! We’ll be back for sure. Thank you! 🙌🏼🙏🏼🙂

The bed in room 9 was easily the best part, it was huge and extremely comfortable. We also found the pousada generally clean and organized, including the reception chairs, pool area, room, and bathroom. The grounds are attractive and leafy, with a rustic decor that gives the place a nice feel. But the pillows smelled strongly of mold and weren’t comfortable. It seemed like the sheets and pillowcases were changed, but the pillows themselves weren’t properly cleaned. One cushion smelled so bad we had to leave it on the floor, away from the bed. The shower was another major problem. It had poor pressure and didn’t work well, which made it hard to wash off sand and beach residue. It was also very loud and gave us the impression it might burn out at any moment. The TV was extremely old and only had open channels. In 2026, it’s frustrating that a pousada doesn’t even provide a Smart TV or something like Roku to access your own streaming services, especially on rainy days when the pool, beach, or town outings aren’t an option. We were also uncomfortable with the towel policy, since towels are only changed every 3 days. Other pousadas often change them daily and provide separate towels for the room and pool. That matters in a beach town, where towels are constantly damp from the sea and pool. Outside, the pool shower was practically unusable, really only enough to wet your feet and rinse off some sand. You couldn’t even take a quick shower there. The pool isn’t heated either, so whether you can use it depends on the weather. We didn’t feel very welcome by the staff or owners, and got the impression they weren’t too concerned about making our stay feel warm, at least not for us. The pousada is pretty and clean, but comfort, maintenance, and service need work for it to meet expectations.

The employees were all kind and attentive, so I have no complaints about them. The facilities were disappointing, though. In the superior Village room, the bathroom shower stall had no door, so a shower soaked the whole room. They said towels and floor cloths are only changed every 3 days. Breakfast was quite basic, and the beds were very old. The listing photos didn’t match what we found, and I felt misled.

The only good parts were the cleaning staff and the women who served breakfast, who were polite and friendly, and the beaches, which are beautiful. The rest of our stay was awful. My husband and I had paid for 3 nights, but left in the early hours after the second night because the room made it impossible to get decent sleep. Before booking, I asked for photos and sent the picture of the apartment we liked. The attendant, Sr. Fernando, told me all the rooms were the same. When we arrived, ours was completely different and under renovation: half the floor had tiles and half was cement. The old bed was terribly uncomfortable and sagged in the middle, and the bathroom sink dripped onto the floor whenever we used it. I messaged reception to explain that the room was uncomfortable and didn’t match the photo we had chosen, and sent a screenshot of the conversation from before we finalized the booking. The people responsible said they couldn’t do anything. They had told us all the apartments were the same, and when I asked if we could move rooms for even one day, reception didn’t even reply. If the pousada had admitted it was wrong to say the rooms were all the same, or at least answered our message and tried to improve things, I would have respected that. Instead, they were insensitive, even though my husband has a degree of autism and had trouble sleeping in a room different from the one he’d chosen in the photo.

We were let down by our stay, especially because nobody at the pousada responded to us during the whole visit. They ignored our message about the room, didn’t explain the renovation, and didn’t offer even a discount. The only good service we got was from the women who cleaned and served breakfast. The nearby beaches were a plus. Before booking, my wife asked for photos and picked an apartment. The attendant said only rooms 17 and 20 were available. I asked if both matched the photo she had chosen, and was told they were the same, except one had a sofa and the other didn’t. Based on that, we agreed to room 20 for 3 days. Opening the door was a disappointment. Room 20 was under renovation, with half the floor tiled and half cement. The bed sagged in the middle and was very uncomfortable. A gray-painted piece of wood above the bathroom door covered a hole in the ceiling box, the door barely opened because it was stuck, and the bathroom sink left water all over the floor. I have a personal disorder related to places with lots of colors, which is why we asked so many questions and requested photos before booking. The information we got was distorted, and they lied when they said every room was like the one in my wife’s photo. We were uncomfortable with the room and its surroundings, so we messaged reception asking to move apartments. They said no. I sent screenshots showing that the attendant had said all the rooms were the same quality, which is why we agreed to book.
