The rocky, muddy road to the place is inconvenient, though it's only about 1 km long. Also, anyone who needs internet in their room might be disappointed; that wasn't an issue for me. The inn itself is lovely, surrounded by nature, with pleasant, clean rooms and shared areas, a delicious breakfast, and friendly staff.

We wanted a Carnival surrounded by nature and away from crowds, and staying here with our dog made it such a happy trip. It was my first time taking her to the beach, which was the main reason for the visit. Andreia, Johnny Boy, and their four-legged host Kisuco made us feel welcome and left a big impression on us. The pet pool was the highlight. I taught my Maya to swim there and loved seeing her progress. By the second day she was jumping in and playing with her dog friends. I think the pool gave her the confidence she needed before going into the sea. We also joined a trip to the islands with the inn's partner, and Maya even jumped off the boat for a swim and had a great time in the water there. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of variety in a nice setting. You can ask for pancakes, scrambled eggs, and tapioca made fresh, and there are treats for the pets too. They even give the pets natural ice cream whenever you like. The facilities were great, and on our last day I gave Maya a nice bath in the pet shower. She was relaxed and smelled lovely for the whole trip home. Bring plenty of insect repellent. You can't let your guard down for a minute with all the biting flies and mosquitoes around. They do leave spray bottles of alcohol around the inn, though. For me, that was worth it to breathe in all that greenery, fall asleep to the sounds of the forest, and see such a beautiful starry sky. Boiçucanga beach is the only one that accepts pets, and everything there went smoothly. We loved it all!

We loved Pousada Portal do Cacau. We came to celebrate our dog Nicolas's eighth birthday, and they gave him such a warm welcome with a balloon, decorations, and special attention. The place is comfortable and cozy, and clearly set up to welcome both people and pets. Dogs are treated with care and given room to roam safely. Breakfast was delicious and varied, with tapioca, cuscuz, scrambled eggs, and plenty more. It was a wonderful stay, and we'd definitely like to come back.
