Pousada Raios De Luar

Great.

The service was lovely, and I especially appreciated the thoughtful breakfast Helô put together for just the two of us on our last day, when there were no other guests. We stayed five days and really enjoyed our time there. The breakfast is simple but satisfying, and the cost for what you get is excellent. Our room was extremely clean, with new, good-quality sheets and towels and a very comfortable box bed. The pousada is simple and cozy. Helô, the owner, is lovely, friendly, and helpful. It's just a few meters from the beach, with ice cream shops, an ATM, bars, restaurants, and a shopping center nearby. We walked everywhere. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

The outdoor shower was a nice bonus. My checkout was at noon on Sunday, but I stayed at the beach longer and could come back and shower there. Heloísa, Alessandra, and the other staff were all good, no complaints, just thanks. I had a weekend at Raio de Luar in São Sebastião, close to Boiçucanga beach. The room had air conditioning, a fan, a TV, and decent space. The pousada was cozy and breakfast was satisfying. I ordered food from Rei do Burger, whose artisan burger was very good, and pizza from gherardis. There were tables opposite the rooms where it was nice to eat in the evening. Things to improve: the TV, shower, and noise from the air conditioner and fan. Note: the waterfalls are about a 40-minute walk from the pousada to the start of the trail. The route to Cachoeira Samambaiaçu is quite tough. The best waterfalls are hidromassagem and pedra Lisa. Bring insect repellent and water!

If you're after a low price and a good location, this place might suit you, but don't expect much beyond that. I stayed there recently during Christmas week and wouldn't return because cleanliness is essential to me. There was no air conditioning in my room, and cleaning was the biggest issue. I found a few dead cockroaches and, even though I checked every day, they stayed in the same spots. The room didn't seem to have been wiped down before we arrived or during the stay. The toilet flush and shower were also faulty, with water coming out everywhere, which suggested a lack of maintenance.
