Refúgio de Camburi

I am writing to describe how dissatisfied and embarrassed I felt during my stay at Pousada Refúgio de Camburi on January 31 and February 1. When I made the preliminary reservation, I said there was a chance I would bring a pet because I hadn't decided yet. On the last day, the person who was going to look after my dog couldn't do it, so we decided to bring him. When we arrived on January 31, we unloaded our bags and briefly walked the dog so he could settle in. We were already staying in a suite meant for guests with pets. The owner saw the dog, complained that we should have told him beforehand, and began treating us rudely. He charged the pet fee, which we paid right away without arguing. We had also already paid the full amount for four days. Even so, he told us, “Next time, let me know beforehand. Don't come back.” Because of his hostile attitude, I asked whether he wanted us to leave immediately. He said, “As far as I'm concerned, you can leave now.” When I asked if we would still be charged for the night if we left, he said yes. We were left choosing between leaving at once and losing the money we'd paid, or staying somewhere that felt openly hostile. We stayed until February 1, but the whole thing ruined what was meant to be a few days of rest. The treatment was disrespectful and humiliating, and fell far short of the hospitality you would expect from a place that presents itself as pet-friendly. I don't recommend this place to anyone. I'm still waiting for my refund. My friend, the dog got out of the car, walked around, and stayed with us by the pool. He only went farther into the garden, which you saw, while we were still by the pool. You came over, collected the rest of our stay payment, and only then started acting tough, once the money was in your pocket. You were arrogant and awful. Did you really think we'd stay at this dump and hide the dog somewhere for two days? Where were we supposed to put him? We'd already stayed at an inn in Juquehy with the pet, and then went to Maresias. You were already angry with another guest, complaining that she had friends in her room, and then you tried to bully us too. Fine, we left. We're still waiting for you to return the money you chose to take before complaining.

I loved this place so much. The service was great, everything was clean, and the rooms were good and comfortable. There are some rules, which are necessary, and they don't serve meals. The rooms have a living room, bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom. The pool setup is great too: there's a children's pool, one for relaxing, and a deeper one for adults. It's very close to the beach, restaurants, and shops. I'm already counting the days until I can come back. ❤

My family loved our room. It was really spacious, great for bringing the kids, and very clean and well cared for. Such a peaceful place, and good value for the money.

My family stayed there last week, and they said it was the worst experience of their lives. The owner was arrogant and had no manners. There are plenty of other places in Camburi, and this one definitely isn't the right place to stay. Keep away from Refúgio de Camburi. Note: The owner replied that my own family acted in bad faith. He'd rather blame other people than admit he's rude and arrogant. Take care, and I'll say it again: DO NOT STAY HERE!
