The clean rooms were a plus, but the rest of our stay at Pousada Bosque dos Beija-Flores was frustrating. We left before our booking ended because things fell so far short of what we expected, and we don’t plan to return or recommend it. I booked through WhatsApp after finding the pousada on Instagram, hoping for a comfortable stay for my 65-year-old mother, my husband, and my 9-year-old daughter. We were meant to stay from January 17, 2026, through Tuesday. The place is advertised as having a spa, but the ofurô wasn’t working, and we’d have to call someone to come to the pousada. No one explained that when we booked. The breakfast was very simple for the price. The walk from the parking area to the chalets is long and difficult, especially in rain, and a real problem for older guests. There’s also no structure or activities for children. The internet was very poor, the access roads were in bad shape, and the pousada seemed poorly maintained, with an abandoned feel. I hope this review helps other guests and encourages management to improve the facilities and be clearer about what they advertise.

It’s a simple place with a rural feel and lots of quiet, great for disconnecting from social media and city life and enjoying the land, nature, and animals. The staff were very polite and helpful.

The staff welcomed us with so much care and attention. It’s a wonderful, peaceful place, surrounded by trees and trails, and the breakfast was really good. Grateful for the stay.

The rural pousada is simple, just as advertised, and the surroundings are beautiful and fairly peaceful. Its grounds are part of a forest restoration project, with trails leading to two waterfalls. Linda, the pousada’s dog and mascot, is lovely and takes guests along an easy trail to the nearer waterfall. The sounds of nature are everywhere: cicadas, birdsong, and frogs that come out after rain to eat insects drawn to the lights by the chalet doors. Getting to the chalets could be easier. The route is grassy, so it feels a bit slippery when wet. A little more decorative lighting could also make the garden look even nicer. The wooden chalet has no fan, air conditioning, or fireplace. During my November stay, the weather was pleasant despite the rain, so that didn’t bother me at all. The shower gets nice and hot and has room for a couple to enjoy a good shower. There’s also a minibar in the room, and you can bring whatever you like. The weak points are the small TV screen and the internet. The town uses radio antenna internet, which is very unstable. The monitor TV has no antenna cable and relies on internet for channels and apps, so with a poor signal there’s no TV or phone service. If you need to work remotely, check whether the pousada has switched to satellite or wired internet. Cable service is reaching the area, and the manager said they were considering Starlink. The service has that warm Minas Gerais way of welcoming people. All the staff were attentive, helpful, and very friendly. Breakfast is included. There aren’t many choices, but most of it tastes good. The green juice had too much kale. There was coffee, milk, tea, real natural yogurt, orange and green juices, with the green one being a kale based detox drink, a different flavored cake each day, bread made at the pousada, butter, guava paste, white cheese and mozzarella, ham, papaya, fruit salad, toast, and biscuits, including one that melts in your mouth. It’s not a feast with endless options, but there’s enough to eat well. The kitchen staff can also fry or scramble eggs if you ask, assuming the hens are in the mood. The game room has ping pong, billiards, dominoes, playing cards, and a small library. There’s also a funny cat who likes to interrupt billiards, and a pot of coffee is always available there. The internet signal is usually a little better in that room. The pousada offers massages, ofurô baths, and even a tarot reader. You need to book these and pay separately, so check the prices first if you want to add them to your package. Manager Marcelo knows the local attractions and popular spots, so you can ask him for suggestions. I really liked Jardim Secreto, though the performers didn’t seem to be having their best night. The drinks are great, made with blue mushroom gin. If you want to buy a bottle, PUB Cogumelo Azul on the main street, down the hill, has the best price. Vale das Borboletas is a must see when visiting São Tomé das Letras. The waterfall has clear water at a pleasant temperature, and wooden walkways help you reach Cachoeira das Borboletas and Poço do Gnomo. There’s a 15 reais per person conservation fee, but parking is free and the place is well cared for. There are restaurants, though during the week only one operates because they take turns, as well as little craft shops. Gruta de Sobradinho is another place to spend the day, but it costs money.
