I went in July 2019 with my husband, children, daughters-in-law and little dog, and was disappointed. I'd had many happy, comfortable stays at Tutóia in earlier years, so this visit was a shock. The owner is selling the property and split the land in two with a wall. The four houses are on one side; the former pool, barbecue area, front garden and parking are on the other. Guests renting a house can no longer use the pool or barbecue, and nobody told us about the change beforehand. Another guest who arrived before us was also disappointed and complained. The only response was to remove mentions of the pool and barbecue from the website. They should have reduced the nightly rate, since it now feels expensive without the old attractions. Behind the houses, the garden and lovely lounge were torn out and replaced with a parking area and such a steep access ramp that we only used it to unload our bags when we arrived. Even so, because it's Saquarema and Itaúna beach, and because some comforts remain, it's still worth considering, though who knows for how long. The two bedrooms still have air conditioning and there's Wi-Fi. The house has two suites, plus an airy, long open-plan living room and small American-style kitchen with the essentials. There's a back kitchen door and a glass door to the veranda, where there's a hammock, so a fresh breeze moves through in summer. The photos show Tutóia from the street on the way back from the beach, with our cars parked outside; the wilder, more secluded part of Itaúna beach near the house; the same beach from a side staircase at Tutóia; and the inside of the house at the table where we had snacks.

You wake up looking straight at the sea, with the house right by the beach. It's a lovely place for a holiday or a long weekend. There are also boat trips and some really fun paratrike flights at a reasonable cost. Casa Tutóia is worth a visit, the price is very accessible and the place itself is worth it.

I stayed in the second half of July 2019 and really liked the house. It was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped, and Eliane was especially attentive. The internet was very slow and the TV reception wasn't great, but otherwise everything was perfect. Congratulations.

The house has good accommodations, but the gourmet area leaks badly and can't really be used when it rains.
